Years ago we used to do circuit bending and we had many little toy keyboards around. This one was perfect for 8bit and chiptunes genres or just for fun. A little custom GUI let you choose to extend the original range of the instrument and to enable velocity to control the volume of the instrument. There is, also, a low pass filter (just 1 pole) to cut unwanted noise from original samples. The rhythms patch has each rhythm mapped to the white keys (just like the original) and they are tempo-synced to your DAW/sequencer.
Who has never wanted to have a Toy Piano like Schroeder’s, from Peanuts? The sound of the piano is produced by metal bars stroke by plastic hammers, almost like a glockenspiel but more deep and warm. This lovely 2-octaves upright toy piano was sampled with the lid both closed and open and percussions samples have been recorded playing its wood case with hands, nylon brushes and rubber mallets. There are also different ambient/pad/drone instruments created using samples start/loop tricks and a bunch of effects, both with a custom, tweakable, GUI.
