Materia
Additive Re-synthesizer

Spectral Sound Sculptor
Materia is an additive re-synthesizer that transforms any sample into a playable instrument. Load a sound and Materia analyses it into harmonic partials, each with its own frequency, amplitude, phase, and complex envelope.
From there, you can reshape the spectrum, redraw how individual partials evolve, add resonant material models, filtering, and modulation, then play the result polyphonically. Keep the character of the original sample or push it into completely new territory.
Materia is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP).
Using Materia
Start by loading a sample in the sample panel. Materia analyses the sample and turns it into a playable set of harmonic partials.
The partial spectrum is the heart of the instrument. Select a partial to adjust its frequency ratio, amplitude, and phase, or use the partial controls to shape the overall balance.
Edit the partial envelopes to change how each harmonic starts, sustains, and fades; enable Sync Partial Edits when the same timing should be applied to every partial. Advanced Analysis gives partials independent envelopes and sustain loops, while Add Empty Partials makes silent partials available for drawing in new flavours.
The analysed model is stored with the plug-in state, so a project or a preset can be reopened without the original sample file.

Partials and Envelopes
Once Materia has analysed a sample, or even when starting from an empty spectrum, every partial can be shaped by hand. Adjust its frequency, amplitude, and phase, then redraw how it evolves over time using its own 128-point envelope, with editable duration and sustain loop points.
Filter and FXs
Materia has a flexible filter and 4 effects The filter includes low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, and formant modes.
The FX section includes an algorithmic resonator (models materials such as pipes, plates, glass, wood, stone, gongs, membranes, and springs), a tap echo, multi-stage phaser, and a waveshaper.

Materia Demo
Try Materia for free with some limitations: silence for 3 seconds every 45 seconds, saving disabled.
